Chapter 8: Realized

Waves of anger wash over you when you see Changmin, sleeping in his bed and completely unaware of what he'd put the rest of you through. Jae seems to have forgiven him already if the look in his eyes is anything to go by. You share a look with Junsu and Yoochun as the three of you leave the room. Obviously, they're just as unhappy as you.

But you don't talk to them about it. You won't, at least until you get a chance to talk to Min. As angry as you are, you refuse to contribute to what would essentially amount to gossip. You still care about Min, enough not to talk about him behind his back.

The night passes slowly, quietly. You fall into bed early but give up on sleep around 4 a.m., and you get up to walk out some of your tense energy. Junsu is asleep on the couch in front of the t.v. still playing quietly. The light in Yoochun's workroom is still on. Jaejoong flinches in his sleep when you crack the door open to look in on him and Changmin. As you back out again, he curls more securely around the lanky boy in his arms.

You end up at the kitchen table, sipping at a steaming cup of tea as you count down the time until you have to wake the rest of the house again. You imagine all the possible scenarios that could play out when you wake Changmin, all the ways he could react. With even Jae being unsure of Min's responses, though, you can't figure out what fits.

When you pass Jae and Min's room a couple hours later, you hear soft murmurs through the crack in the door. One sounds slightly frantic, panicked, nervous. The other is calm and reassuring. It doesn't stretch the limits of your logic to imagine which voice belongs to who.

You attempt to wake Junsu gently, but he jumps then falls off the couch when you shake his shoulder. He flashes you a sleepy, embarrassed smile before standing up. As you move onto Yoochun, you hope he managed to get at least a little sleep. Somehow.

You open the workroom door slowly. Yoochun is resting face-down on his keyboard with his hands clasped above his head. You wonder how long he's been passed out like that, if maybe you should let him go for a few more minutes.

As you debate yourself silently, Min's door opens behind you. Turning, you watch Jae walk down the hall to the bathroom. You wait until the shower starts up before closing Yoochun's door and making your way to the bedroom.

Changmin's eyes are red-rimmed and closed, but he's not asleep. The small hitches in his breath prove he's trying too hard to regulate the action. His eyes open slowly to look up at you, and you suddenly don't want to do this. Don't want to give him one more reason to tear himself apart. "Hyung?" His voice is rough and almost too soft to hear.

He sits himself up to lean against the wall as you sit on the edge of the bed and face him. The simple act sees to leave him completely devoid of energy; he closes his eyes again. "Changmin…" You sigh. "What in the world are you doing, Min?"

Shrugging, he opens his eyes to meets yours. "I thought I knew, but I was wrong. So I tried to fix it. And that was wrong, too. Every time I think I'm doing the right thing, I end up making a fucking mess. Apparently, I'm just inherently wrong. So I give up. I don't know anymore."

The admission hits you hard, hurts because now you realize how deep this goes. So much more than romantic issues or over-due teen angst. This won't be the easy fix you'd thought (hoped). Min needs to be saved from himself, and you pray you haven't realized it too late.

Gah, I can sense more angst coming~ ;______; But at least Min is back, and Jae stayed with him for the whole night. And Yunnie... *sigh*

Changmin's serious complications. When will this ever end? I really really hope there'll be a good ending for this. D:

Yes, I am afraid now that I've unleashed the angst-monster, I'm having a rough time getting it back under control. But you're right: Min's back, Jae stayed with him, and Yunnie wanted to but couldn't stay angry.

Changmin... Well, at least he has a couple of people who realize it's a little bit more than they'd originally thought. They know he needs a little bit more help now. As for a good ending... I'm trying. 'Cause I'd really rather not be killed by you people. *grins*

Yep, Jae forgave him. And Yunnie couldn't stay mad at him, either. Now all we have to worry about is the other two... *sighs*

Poor everyone. D:

What will they do? How can they save Min? Is it possible? I always have a ton of questions that you won't answer yet. LOL.

Nope, won't answer yet. *grins* But it's coming. We're getting there. Slowly. *shrugs*

...Ouch. O_____O
I can feel the angst. But no, it can't be too late, can it? I mean - I mean, there is going to be a happy ending, right? RIGHT? ><

But this is so beautifully written (as always) and I absolutely love Yunho here; so leader-sshi, not wanting to talk about Changmin behind his back. And I love passed-out Yoochun for some reason. And, in some really sadistic and evil way, I kind of love that it is Changmin with the red-rimmed eyes instead of Jae. *shrugs* Hey, the guy's suffered enough. Probably Min has too, but still. I feel worse for Jae.

This is one long comment. >< Sorry! ♥

Ummm... *blinks* 'Kay. *laughs*

Honestly, I'm kinda glad Min's the one crying in this one, too. For different reasons, though. If he's crying in front of Jae, maybe he's finally ready to admit he needs help. *nods*

I don't mind the long comment, believe me! *grins*

Good. *grins* I'll keep you to that word. Now I can breathe properly again. ♥

Oh yeah - true. *scratches head* Hadn't thought of it in that way. But that's good! Min needs Jae's help. And the rest of DongBang's for that matter. *sends love to poor Min*

xD

I don't get this. Is Min stressing out because he thinks he doesn't meet everyone's expectation, being the mature and smart one? This fic is just so heavy for me T_T

Well, you seem to get it alright to me. *grins* Yeah, that's basically it in a nutshell.

Min has a certain idea of what he believes people expect of him or expect him to be. He's having trouble living up to that idea in his head, and, obviously, this is the outcome.

(I know some people might think Min's reaction is a bit over-dramatic. But there's a reason I can write his P.O.V. so well in this fic. Been there, done that. It's not really as unrealistic of a reaction as it sounds. *shrugs*)

Ohh~~ Min. Poor Min. I just realized I liked going from update to update without waiting for you to post in between. It's how I read the first part, all in one shot. Oh well~ I can't help but read. Please update soon!! :)

Yes, definitely poor Min. But he's got a little bit of the help he needs now, at least. Yay for Jae and Yunho!

I have started on the next chap. already, but being back in school seriously cuts down on how much time I have to be creative. *shrugs* Soon as possible, promise!

...That soo did not seem longer than the others. >.< And you ended it in such an "OMGosh!" spot, how could you?!

I'm just inherently wrong ;.; Minnie~
I'm glad to see that Yunho is realizing that it's much more than it seems. Eek, I'm nervous for everyone. ~.~

It was a bit longer! By, like, maybe 50 words... *blinks* And, hey, at least Chap. 9 is up already, right?
